Mulberry House, Seamer

This replacement dwelling is on the site of a former 1960’s bungalow. Having explored options to alter and extend the existing property our clients came to us with a brief to design a contemporary, 5 bedroom family home which revolved around a large open plan living kitchen dining area capable of seating up to 20 people and which also took advantage of the fantastic views across the open countryside to the south, east and west.

There were a number of constraints that we had to consider relating to the location of the property on the site and its relationship with the neighbouring properties.

The palette of materials includes reclaimed stone, render, slate roof tiles, aluminium double glazed doors and windows in oak frames and oak detailing to the roof.

Internally there is a feature oak stair with glass balustrade and the single storey living/dining area has exposed oak trusses.

Underfloor heating was installed throughout the whole building with heat provided by a ground-sourced heat-pump.

Take a look at the SketchUp model for Mulberry House, which was vital in getting ideas across to both our client and the planners.
